Career opportunities

Studies prepare for:  

  • practising professions related to the use of interdisciplinary and extended knowledge in the field of social sciences, including sciences of international relations, especially in national institutions (governmental and non-governmental) and international bodies of government and self-government administration, in non-governmental organisations, state and private enterprises and international organisations
  • independent acquisition and supplementation of advanced knowledge in the field of social sciences in the domain of international relations and political science and public administration, also in conditions of limited access to knowledge
  • organising work and leading a team
  • communication, negotiation and skilful justification of own position and discussing it in Polish and a foreign language
  • thinking and acting in an entrepreneurial and prosocial manner

A master’s degree entitles you to:  

  • applying for admission to doctoral studies
  • continuing post-graduate studies

COURSE CONTENT


Work placements

The graduate does not complete mandatory internship.

  • Optional work placements 

Possibility of serving optional internships in accordance with own interests and the needs of the labour market, e.g. using offers available in the KUL’s Career Office.


Skills acquired by  International Relations graduates


  • comprehensive, deep and interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of political science and public administration, including international relations, their theory as well as conditions and threats related to the dilemmas of modern civilization, including in relation to European integration and security as well as diplomacy and communication
  • detailed familiarity with internal and external relations of the European Union and international political, economic and cultural relations
  • extensive knowledge of contemporary international political and social systems and institutions
  • the ability to apply extensive theoretical knowledge to diagnose, analyse and solve problems, and forecast activities and their effects in international relations
  • the ability to use and correctly interpret legal provisions in the field of international relations, taking into account Poland’s membership in the European Union as well as diplomacy and communication
  • the ability to reflect on social, scientific and ethical aspects related to own work and professional ethos

  • the ability to use advanced theoretical knowledge in the process of international and intercultural communication, especially in conducting negotiations with the environment, argumentation with the use of advanced specialist terminology and to present and justify own position
  • the ability to prepare speeches in a foreign language regarding the discipline of political science and public administration, including international relations, using selected theories and various sources

  • the ability to apply extensive knowledge of politics and administration to forecast specific activities and their effects in the sphere of international relations
  • the ability to independently acquire and extend knowledge and competence in the field of social sciences, including international relations, and to guide other people in this area
  • the ability to manage team work and cooperate in a team
  • the ability to set up national and international institutions, including those related to implementation of international relations
  • the ability to prepare social projects and to reflect on social, scientific and ethical aspects related to own work and professional ethos


  • the ability to independently integrate acquired extensive knowledge and to undertake new and complex activities in an organised way, also in conditions of limited access to necessary information
  • the ability to apply acquired extensive theoretical knowledge to analyse, diagnose, explain and forecast specific issues related to international relations, using theories and research methods appropriate for the discipline of political science and public administration
  • the ability to correctly assess threats in international relations

  • the ability to use in-depth theoretical knowledge to search for, conceptualise and solve research problems in the field of international relations
  • the ability to improve and independently assess knowledge in the field of political science and public administration, especially in the sphere of international relations
    familiarity with theories and methods of conducting research in the field of international relations using appropriate methods, techniques and tools

  • the ability to reflect on social, scientific and ethical aspects related to own work and professional ethos
  • the ability to plan and implement actions based on axiological foundations and an objective hierarchy of values, and respect for the dignity of others


Education requirements


BA diploma in International Relations has priority.

BA diploma in social sciences as: Administration, Internal Security, Politology, Economics, Finance and Accountancy,  Journalism and Social Communication, European Studies, Law, Logistics, Management, Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology.

BA diploma from other fields of study in the humanities and philology.

Admission on the basis of the final grade for the diploma examination.

An applicant while registering is required to submit:
