O STUDIACH:

After having completed the Licentiate Programme in Systematic Theology (or any analogous form of education at other faculties of theology, ending with the title of Licentiate of Sacred Theology) the candidates to the doctorate in Sacred Theology must complete Specialized Theological Scholar Course. This two years long form of studies is equivalent to the third cycle of studies according to the constitution “Veritatis gaudium” and is aimed to the preparation of doctoral thesis in every discipline in the field of systematic theology (biblical theology, dogmatic theology, moral theology, fundamental theology, ecumenical theology, theology of spirituality and Church history).

ADRESACI:

The Specialized Theological Scholar Course is addressed to persons with a licentiate degree in theology, corresponding to the completion of the second cycle of studies in accordance with the constitution “Veritatis gaudium”, who wish to prepare a dissertation and obtain an ecclesiastically valid doctoral degree in theology.

 

To the Specialized Theological Scholar Course are admitted applicants who have a licentiate degree in theology, corresponding to the completion of the second cycle of studies according to the constitution “Veritatis gaudium”.

The Specialized Theological Scholar Course will consist of the preparation of a doctoral dissertation and participation in the indicated classes. In each of the two years, the course participant will have to participate in a lectures (75 hours in total) and in a seminar (120 hours in total). All classes are conducted at the university campus.

KOMPETENCJE SPECJALISTYCZNE:

  • knowledge of the world scientific achievements in systematic theology, methodology and ethical aspects of scientific research in the field of theology
  • ability to use knowledge of theology to creatively identify, formulate and innovatively solve complex problems or perform tasks of a research nature
  • ability to initiate debate and participate in scientific discourse in the theological sciences
  • ability to plan and carry out individual and team research projects in the theological sciences, also in an international context

KOMPETENCJE SPOŁECZNE:

  • ability to plan and act independently for one’s own scientific development and to inspire and organize the scientific development of others
  • critical evaluation of one’s own and the world’s achievements within the theological sciences.
  • ability to initiate actions for the common good, taking into account the specificity of the Christian missionary paradigm
  • ability to conduct scientific research in the theological sciences in an independent manner and to respect the principle of public ownership of the results of scientific activity

KWALIFIKACJE:

Completion of the Specialized Theological Scholar Course entitles the graduate to take the doctoral thesis defence. The academic title of Doctor of Sacred Theology awarded by the Faculty of Theology of the Catholic University of Lublin John Paul II has the full value of a doctoral degree both from the point of view of the law of the Catholic Church and from the point of view of the law of the Polish state, therefore it is valid in the entire Catholic Church, as well as in countries belonging to the European Union and countries that recognize the academic titles and degrees awarded in the European Union.
