The Faculty of Philosophy at KUL has a vigorous research culture. It provides excellent support for its PhD students to conduct research that spans all philosophical disciplines.

Specialisation is possible at the Department of Theoretical Philosophy within the following thematic blocks: logic and computer science, history of philosophy, metaphysics and anthropology, social and political philosophy. At the Department of the Philosophy of Nature and Natural Sciences there are two chairs: philosophy of inanimate nature and philosophy of animate nature.

The PhD syllabus includes monographic lectures and a range of courses chosen by PhD students depending on their specialisation. Students have the opportunity to select from a wide range of PhD seminars culminating in a dissertation field exam and the writing of the dissertation.
